Bayern Munich pulled themselves out of any negotiations for Juventus loanee Douglas Costa as the 30-year-old lies on standby mode.
Bayern Munich denied any chances of Douglas Costa playing for the club on a permanent basis according to Fabrizio Romano. The Brazilian winger will return to Juventus by the end of the season following a disappointing second campaign with the Bavarians. The 30-year-old came back to the Bundesliga winners for a second season-long loan move from Bianconeri.
However, Costa could not stir pots for Hansi Flick and was merely a rotational player at Allianz Arena. In accordance the decision that came out, Andrea Pirlo’s side will look for a potential option for Brazil international. As the German side refused to either renew or make a permanent deal. We could say that right now Costa is not in favour of both Flick and Pirlo, which means trouble for the pacer.
So what does this mean for him?
One might suggest that his metatarsal fracture during a training session in mid-February might be the cause of this disaster for him. Yet, the Bayern star was fighting to find his rhythm long before he sustained the injury. With the rise of youthful talents such as Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leroy Sane in the ranks of Bayern, Costa was dissolved to nada.
Everyone will now expect the Brazilian to make a move somewhere outside of Munich. Rumours have flashed saying that Costa will fly back to his country to play for Gremio, one of his youth teams. He played for the Brazilian unit back in 2008 for two years before travelling to Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine. But there have been no signs of any transfer negotiations between Juve and Gremio as of yet.
