The Red Devils might have an edge in the hunt for Haaland with their manager having ties with the player from their time together at Molde.

Erling Haaland’s sensational form in 2020/21 – 33 goals in 31 appearances – has seen him emerge as a target for almost every top European club.

Real Madrid have lacked firepower and are said to be in search of a strike partner, and eventual successor, for Karim Benzema. Manchester City are understood to be keen on replacing an aging Aguero. Chelsea are supposedly ready to move on from the struggling Timo Werner.

Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Barcelona, in addition to the aforementioned, are also reportedly in line for the striker.

The Borussia Dortmund sensation is expected to spark one of the most fiercely contested transfer battles in football in the summer – and Manchester United might just have an edge over others.

According to AS [via Metro], Ole Gunnar Solskjaer “keeps on calling” Haaland in an attempt to lure him to Old Trafford. Solskjaer’s interest in signing his compatriot, the report adds, dates back to the Norway international’s RB Salzburg days.

Another factor that could give the Red Devils an edge in the hunt for Haaland is the player’s relationship with their manager, with the pair having worked together at Molde.
