After missing an official match during spring again, Neymar is already getting criticized for the hectic lifestyle he leads in France.

Neymar will never stop getting criticized for the hectic lifestyle he leads regardless of how well he plays football. Even though he is still considered one of the best players in the world, there’s no denying he has some questionable habits. From always going to sleep late for playing videogames, to attending the Rio de Janeiro carnival every year. There simply is no way to defend his lifestyle, especially after every time he suffers an injury. Even though most of his problems have been after getting fouled. The bad optics will always remain there for as long as he keeps this lifestyle.

Contrary to other footballers, Neymar hasn’t been able to settle down and create a family for himself. He is already 29 years of age and he still gets easily distracted with anything. As a way to defend himself from criticism in France, Neymar posted the following message on his official Instagram account before PSG’s second match vs Barcelona: “The other day I posted my workout program from the moment I wake up and I saw nobody saying: ‘Look how professional he is and how much he takes care of his body’. You only publish what sells.”

Brazilians and their ‘party boy’ stigma.

Although this is a generalized concept, it’s no secret that Brazilians have always suffered from this reputation. Ever since the times of Garrincha, there has always been more than one Brazilian star who parties a little too hard. The most famous cases are Romario, Ronaldo Nazario, and Ronaldinho. All of these names are incredible footballers who were at some point considered the best in the world. Neymar hasn’t reached that level yet. He probably never will.

Despite having the talent to become as great as his predecessors, he simply hasn’t proved he is ready for such a massive responsibility. Granted, he may finish his career as Brazil’s all-time top-scorer but he may never win the World Cup. If he continues with this hectic lifestyle, there’s even a chance Neymar will waste the final years of great football left in him. The press in France is already starting to notice there’s a pattern with the star.
