Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Manchester United players mustn’t express their “frustration on the pitch” as the manager suggests he has no tolerance for in-fighting.
Tension boiled over at Selhurst Park on Wednesday as Manchester United struggled to break open the opposition defense.
In an attempt to spark a breakthrough with the scoreline still level after about 70 minutes of play, Maguire played a lofted pass through to Rashford. Rashford was flagged offside, and Maguire was left fuming his positioning.
The Red Devils skipper shouted “f******g stay onside” at the 23-year-old forward, who snapped back “shut the f*** up, f*****g knobhead”.
Speaking ahead of the Manchester derby, Solskjaer warned that he doesn’t like to see his players lose their temper on the pitch.
“Sometimes it has boiled over into frustration when it hasn’t worked our way, we’ve got to stop that, the frustration on the pitch.
“We want to win but don’t let it affect your desire to do well. Don’t let it affect your confidence or the team spirit.”
The 0-0 saw Manchester United slip to third place in the Premier League standings, 14 points behind leaders Manchester City.
