After an iconic tea-sipping moment he had vs Tottenham, Carlo Ancelotti wanted to explain the whole context behind his becoming a meme.
Carlo Ancelotti was already such a cool character before this week’s iconic tea-sipping moment but he became ten times cooler. The Italian manager is famous for always keeping his composure during difficult moments. Much like Andrea Pirlo, he represents the epitome of what Italian chill is all about. There have been several times in the past where Carlo doesn’t really celebrate great moments in his career.
However, this week’s tea-sipping incident shot him to the stars and turned him into a social media celebrity. Young people are already making gifs of Carlo’s iconic tea-zipping moment. It all happened during the final minutes of the Everton vs Tottenham FA Cup fifth-round match. Both sides were playing the extra time and the one who scored won the game. Carlo was reportedly quite cold during that moment and he decided to ask for a tea.
Carlo keeps his cool despite the goal.
As the match came closer to its end, Carlo saw how Bernard and Sigurdsson combined to produce a spectacular moment as they scored the winning goal. Another manager would’ve jumped to celebrate like a wild man but not Carletto. The man had a tea in his hand and didn’t even flinch. Instead, he kept blowing at his cup of tea to make it a little less hot. The image will live rent-free in the head of all Evertonians for the rest of time. And Carlo won everybody’s hearts with this cool moment.
As he explained the media what happened, the Daily Mail picked up the following statement: “I was drinking a tea because I was freezing. After the 90 minutes I was not able to talk because I was really cold so I asked for a cup of tea. When Bernard scored the goal I didn’t celebrate for two reasons – because I had the cup of tea in my hand, and second I didn’t know if it was allowed or not because there was a check for the offside, so I was calm and cool for this reason. It was so cold!”
