In a recent press conference for the World Health Organization, Gianni Infantino made a surprising statement about the 2022 World Cup.

The 2022 Qatar World Cup is still a little time away but Gianni Infantino already has major plans for it when it happens. As initially advertised, this competition will take place between the months of November and December of that year. The initial reason for this decision is that the weather conditions are much better during that time of the year. With the global pandemic pushing on a full year, it’s very likely that the world can get it under control by the end of 2021.

Vaccinations are starting to pick up steam and things will slowly get back to normal. Unless some other tragedy happens between now and the winter of 2022, things will move forward as planned. Gianni Infantino even describes how he envisions the World Cup inside every stadium, a statement that surprised everyone. Even though we still have no idea about the long-term effect of this pandemic on massive social gatherings. Infantino still wanted to clarify his intentions to fill every World Cup stadium to full capacity.

Infantino’s ambitious plans for Qatar 2022.

During a press conference for the World Health Organization picked up by Sky Sports, Infantino said: “Next year at the World Cup 2022 in Qatar from the 21st of November to the 18th of December, we will have full stadiums. We must have them, Covid will be defeated by then and all will have learned to live with it. If two years from now, we are not there yet. I think we’ll have a bigger problem than the World Cup.

“I am very, very confident (it) will be incredible, will have the same magic, uniting the world. We will be back to where we have to be. We will certainly not take any risk for the health of anyone when we play football. We will see where we can play, in what conditions. We will do it by adhering to a clear health protocol.”
