Real Madrid got a visit from Levante at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium today, it wasn’t a good performance from Los Blancos. There are several Real Madrid players who made some bad decisions throughout the 90 minutes today. The first one to make a mistake was Eder Militao, who got sent-off early in the game after committing a stupid foul quite early in the game.
After this moment, Levante got way more confident despite Real Madrid’s efforts to score the initial goal. Marco Asensio was the man who opened the scoresheet for Los Blancos. It was a controversial goal after Mendy committed a clear penalty and the very next counter-attack was Asensio’s goal. However, the referee decided to not call the penalty. Despite this flagrant help from the ref, it was simply not Real Madrid’s day.
Morales and Marti respond for Levante.
Los Blancos arguably played the worst second half of the entire season against Levante this evening. Before the break though, Morales scored the equalizer that everybody saw coming due to the whole situation. Playing with 10 footballers for an entire match can be detrimental to any football club, regardless of the situation. After the break, David Bettoni decided to get Vinicius in to replace Eden Hazard.
Right after coming in, the Brazilian player committed a stupid penalty that Courtois saved. With only minutes left on the clock, Marti finally scored the winner for Levante in a predictable result for Real Madrid. The assistant manager also decided to get Karim Benzema off the pitch with minutes left on the clock. A result that complicates Los Blancos’ title aspirations.
