Thomas Tuchel has revealed he received a message from Frank Lampard after taking over as Chelsea boss from the 42-year-old.
New Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed Frank Lampard sent him a ‘good luck’ message on Thursday morning.
The German was appointed Chelsea manager following the sacking of Frank Lampard at the start of the week.
Tuchel oversaw his first game as Blues boss in a goalless stalemate against Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The German was disappointed with the result but insisted he was pleased with his side’s overall performance.
Asked about his reaction to Frank Lampard’s sacking, the current Chelsea boss reveals he had a message from the Blues legend.
“I hope not (backlash from supporters) because that would be hard on the team,” Tuchel said as quoted by the Daily Mail.
“The fans are so close and behind the team, it makes a big difference. I know it was a big disappointment for the fanbase that Frank was sacked and I said before, I have the biggest respect.”
“I was a huge fan of Frank as a player. I had a message to wish me all the best.”
“The club made clear to me this is not my fault, I cannot change the situation for him.”
“The decision was made and I was handed the opportunity.”
