The Reds have big holes to fill in their team but are yet to show any transfer activity despite the winter market fast approaching its end.
Jurgen Klopp is not expecting Liverpool to make additions to their squad in the January transfer market.
Liverpool cruised to the Premier League title last time out, winning the league by an astonishing 18-point margin, but it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for them in the current campaign.
A significant drop in standards has been witnessed with much of it a result of a weakened defense.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez continue their prolonged spell on the sidelines while Joel Matip’s fitness has been unreliable. Jurgen Klopp, as a result, has been forced to seek makeshift solutions for his backline.
Calls have been made to bring in new faces to the club. Bayern Munich’s David Alaba and Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, both of whom are facing an uncertain future, among others, have been linked with a switch to Anfield.
Liverpool remained quiet for the majority of the summer transfer window and acted only towards its conclusion. It is hoped something similar is planned for January,. Klopp, for one, however, is not expecting late business.
“Not really, no,” he told reporters, via Express. “I would not say absolutely 100 percent no but I don’t expect anything to happen, to be honest.”
