Etihad Stadium was the place where Manchester City had a complicated Premier League match against Aston Villa. We have player ratings.

Man City was coming from a fantastic streak of solid work in the Premier League to face Aston Villa at Etihad Stadium tonight. Pep Guardiola is a declared Jack Grealish admirer but he might not like him as much after tonight. The Villa captain literally took two Manchester City player out of the game after winning two challenges against them.

First, Kyle Walker had to limp off the pitch with Grealish completely unharmed after a tackle. Already in the second half, Kevin de Bruyne was the unfortunate one to clash against Jack. Two injured players after challenging Grealish to Pep Guardiola’s dismay. But the Catalan manager had the last laugh in this match at the Etihad.

Grealish isn’t enough to beat City.

Pep Guardiola already confirmed that no club with a poor defense can compete for trophies. This season has been impressive for the Citizens on the defensive end, they’ve been quite solid in the last couple of months. All they lacked was goal-scoring capabilities, which came late today during the game. Jack Grealish is a fantastic player but he simply can’t keep growing at Aston Villa, he needs to move to a better squad.

Bernardo Silva scored a late screamer to give City the lead. Moments after that, Gundogan scored from the spot after a handball was called in City’s favor. With this result, the Citizens take the Premier League’s top spot with Liverpool and Manchester United about to play their respective matches.
