One of Napoli’s stars tested positive for Coronavirus four days after throwing a birthday party for himself during the holiday break in Nigeria.

With all the controversy going around about football players throwing parties in the middle of a pandemic, one of Napoli’s stars just became a cautionary tale. Victor Osimhen tested positive for Covid-19 only four days after his birthday. In fact, it’s suspected that the source of the infection was his birthday party. The event violated all health security measures.

The 22-year-old joined the Italian side for a record-fee of €70 million after a prolific season at Lille. However, Osimhen has been sidelined since November as he picked up a shoulder injury while playing for his country. Although the Nigerian was reportedly ready for his comeback after the holiday break, it will have to wait. The player is seen on video throwing money on the floor while dancing at his birthday party. In addition, it’s possible to see several people around him with no one wearing a mask.

According to Italian news outlet Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the player already received a reprimand from the club’s representatives. Moreover, Gli Azzurri manager Gattuso didn’t take the news well. Osimhen may also be looking at a heavy fine after his irresponsible behavior. Additionally, Napoli released a statement clarifying that the player didn’t have any contact with his teammates and currently has no symptoms.
