The Rossoneri are strong favorites to bring the title home after a decade, but their manager says that is not the team’s primary focus.

AC Milan’s main target is to return to playing Champions League football, stresses Stefano Pioli.

Pioli’s men have enjoyed an extraordinary Serie A campaign so far winning 10 of their opening 14 matches and managing to avoid defeat in the remaining four games.

Milan will welcome 2021 as league leaders. A massive ten-point gap exists between them and defending champions Juventus while a point separates them from second-placed Inter Milan.

The Rossoneri are expected to carry their inspiring form all the way to the end of the season and win their first league title in a decade, but Pioli’s priorities are different.

“We’ll work to improve. And, yes, return to the Champions League,” the Italian head coach told Corriere della Sera, via Football Italia. “The club hasn’t asked for anything, they don’t want to pressure us.

“Maldini, Massara, and Gazidis have put us in ideal working conditions: they’re extraordinary. But we are all aware we must do everything to bring Milan back to where it should be, in the Champions League.

“It’s been missing for too long, that’s our place and we can do it.”
