The Norwegian sharpshooter’s injury has forced him to miss the last few games, and BVB had slipped down the league standings in that period.

Erling Haaland will most likely be available for Borussia Dortmund’s first match of 2021 against Wolfsburg, sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed.

The striker suffered a torn muscle during the final training session ahead of the Champions League group stage match against Lazio in the first week of December.

The injury has since kept him on the sidelines, forcing the 20-year-old to miss subsequent games against Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Werder Bremen, and Union Berlin in Bundesliga, Zenit in the Champions League, and Braunschweig in DFB-Pokal.

BVB has managed to win only three of those games and have dropped to fifth in the league standings.

Haaland’s absence has already posed many problems for the German side and they fired head coach Lucien Favre amid the team’s poor form.

Zorc has now informed that the prolific Norwegian will most probably return to the Dortmund line-up once the shortest Christmas break in the league’s history is over.

“The rehab went very well,” the Westfalenstadion chief said. We assume that Erling can play again against Wolfsburg,” Zorc told BILD.

Haaland has notched up an impressive 17 goals in 14 appearances across competitions since the start of 2020-21.
