Uncertainty still surrounds the future of an Italy international who was heavily linked with a move away from London last summer.

Emerson Palmieri is unlikely to leave Chelsea when the transfer market reopens, informs the player’s agent.

The defender replaced the injured Ben Chilwell in the 3-0 victory over West Ham on Monday to mark what was only his second Premier League appearance of the season.

He has remained a fringe player for the Blues ever since his arrival in 2018 and the trend has continued this season with the 26-year-old’s playing time restricted to just seven games in total so far.

The former Roma man was linked with a return to Italy in the summer with interest reported from Inter Milan and Juventus, and the transfer rumors have once again started to surface ahead of the winter market.

“Will he go away from Chelsea in January? I do not believe so,” Fernando Garcia, Emerson’s main legal representative, addressing such rumors, told FCInter1908.

“I don’t know if there will be the possibility of returning to Italy. For now, there have been no contacts with Inter.”

“Emerson has a good relationship with Lampard.”
