After suffering through Covid-19 for nearly three weeks, one of Chelsea’s stars revealed details of his many struggles to get rid of the virus.

Covid-19 is the virus that is getting millions of people to struggle throughout the year and a Chelsea star got in deep waters with it. We are talking about Kai Havertz, who tested positive in November and took a while to recover. Although he was only in bed for 10 days, coming back to full fitness in order to compete took him almost three weeks.

Contrary to what some might believe, athletes can also have a hard time with Covid despite having a strong immune system. This happened to players like Ilkay Gundogan, Edinson Cavani, Paulo Dybala, and now we know about Havertz. Getting fully recovered from this virus can even take months in some cases but Kai didn’t suffer as much as other athletes did.

Kai feared for his well-being.

While talking to Football Focus via BBC Sport, Havertz said: “It was like a very bad flu for me so I think now I know it is very bad for people. Before I sometimes thought, ‘OK it is not so bad’ but now I get it and I know for older people and people who had illnesses before it can be very bad.

“We all have to look out for each other. To be honest, it was personally very hard. When you do nothing for two and half weeks and then you start training again, you feel like you have never played football before. For me it took two or three weeks to get back to 100%. Now I have started three games and I’m feeling good. It takes a lot of time and it took around one and a half months for me to get back but now I think I am very fit again and can start to attack again.”
