After tonight’s victory against Sevilla, Zinedine Zidane wanted to speak to the media as Real Madrid’s Champions League match looms.

Real Madrid had a complicated task this evening against Sevilla, one that could’ve gotten Zinedine Zidane sacked. But we know Los Blancos better, they never give up despite adversity. This team always fights until their final breath and today was no exception. Even though they didn’t play a particularly good game against the Andalusian squad, they still got the result they wanted.

But if we are being honest, ‘Zizou’ is perfectly aware that the criticism against his squad is far from over. With the game against Borussia Dortmund on the horizon, ‘Zizou’ is not out of the woods just yet. The French manager can still get sacked if Real Madrid get eliminated in the Champions League. However, results can still get them to finish their group at the very top.

Zidane’s reaction after the win vs Sevilla.

“There are three very important points, but more important is the game we played,” Zidane said in his post-match press conference via Marca. “Our first half was very good, and we deserved the three points against a very good opponent. We have overcome this against a team that makes it difficult for you at any time.

“We are a team with character. It is true that from time to time it affects us playing every three days. We never stop playing. We have to fix some things. And when we fix them, then we will take more steps forward. This is not going to change,” Zidane added.

“We know that when you don’t do well, they will criticize you. You have to think positively and nothing else. Keep trying to be consistent and that’s what we are going to be. We have to be happy with the chances we have created,” he noted.

“And everything can be improved by regaining confidence and regaining tranquillity. Today we played the game very well and we suffered, of course, because there is an opponent. We have to trust in what we do and congratulate the players, because it is not easy to come to Seville and win.”
