Manchester United’s mixed run of results this season has sparked fresh doubts over the manager’s future at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aware football is a ‘results business’, but remains calm over his own future and insisted Manchester United are ‘going places’.

A mixed start to the season has seen the Red Devils win just half of their eight Premier League games, leaving them 13th in the standings. Although they can make up ground against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.

The clash at St Mary’s will be another test of Solskjaer’s managerial credentials. A victory would be a huge plus, especially as his Southampton counterpart Ralph Hasenhuttl is reportedly being linked to his job.

“We live in a results business and all I want is for Man United to improve as a team and as a club,” said Solskjaer as quoted in the Daily Mail.

“I have very good dialogue with the club all of the time. You have to think long-term and short-term – and I would never ever think that this is my chance to prove a point and that it’s all about me.

“That’s not what it’s about here. Every decision I make is for the good of Manchester United.

“For me, it’s about results and if we keep improving we have a very good opportunity because this team and this squad is going places.”
