Everton keeper Jordan Pickford will face no punishment after his tackle that would leave Van Dijk on the sidelines for a while.
The England international will escape punishment as the incident during Saturday’s 2-2 derby draw at Goodison Park was seen by the match officials.
Liverpool confirmed that Van Dijk suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage in a collision with Pickford. The head of VAR David Coote advised referee Michael Oliver that the Dutch defender was offside in the build-up.
Sky Sports report that the FA has the power to review decisions even after the game but there will be no further action on Pickford. The reason being that the event to the tackle was flagged as offside.
Many Liverpool fans have called for the Everton goalie to be punished but they won’t be getting any such wish.
Till now, there is still no timeline on how long Van Dijk will be out but multiple reports say it could be up to six months at least.
