Manchester City may have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of their game against Arsenal on Sunday. Kevin De Bruyne is a major doubt for the game.

Pep Guardiola might have more to worry about after Kevin De Bruyne reportedly picked up an injury on international duty.

The news come at a bad time as the Citizens prepare to face Arsenal on Sunday. The Gunners have enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, picking up nine points from their first four games. This is as many as champions Liverpool.

That form has led to talk of Mikel Arteta’s men being a ‘different’ side this season. On Sunday, their ambitions will be tested by a Manchester City side who are desperate to put a disappointing start to the campaign behind them.

But ahead of the game, Man City have been dealt a potentially huge blow with Kevin De Bruyne apparently suffering an injury during international duty.

Belgium’s official Twitter account this evening confirmed De Bruyne has returned to Man City, ‘not fit enough’ to feature in the Red Devils’ Nations League clash with Iceland on Wednesday.

The tweet read: “UPDATE: @DeBruyneKev returned to his club. He couldn’t be fit enough to play against Iceland.”

The midfielder played 73 minutes in Belgium’s 2-1 defeat to England on Sunday.

It seems he now faces a battle for fitness to feature against Arsenal and if he is to be absent, it would be a crushing blow for Man City.

City will now have to assess De Bruyne for further tests and will be hoping it is not a long-term injury to their star player.
