Having won trophies all over Europe, Edinson Cavani is eager to do the same at Manchester United and has set his sights on the Premier League.
Edinson Cavani is eager to restore a winning mentality to Manchester United. He is already eyeing silverware in his first season at the club.
The Uruguayan arrived at Old Trafford as a free agent on deadline day after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free-transfer.
Cavani insists United remain one of the biggest clubs in the world and should always be fighting to win titles.
Despite having won a record 20 league titles, the Red Devils have stumbled by far in recent seasons. In fact, they have now gone seven years since their last triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Cavani, who won six league titles in France, told United’s website: “I think any player who is competitive by nature always wants to be able to win silverware.”
“You always work hard so you can give the best account of yourself, and based on performing at your best, you can get the right results.”
‘Then, when you’ve picked up the right results, you can go on to win trophies and achieve big things.
“I’ve just joined one of the biggest clubs in the world and I think that one of the first objectives it has, as a club, is to win and be champions.”
“I believe that you can’t help but think that a club like Manchester United can aspire to win the title.”
“Starting with the Premier League, and then moving on to other trophies.”
Cavani added: “That’s what I would like to achieve with this club, win trophies, win titles, and then to be able to make the same impression here that I’ve always tried to make with every club I’ve played at.”
Cavani is on lock-down at the moment so far and is yet to train with his United teammates. The veteran forward also spoke on stepping up his training regimes.
“It will be a great feeling and a nice experience and it’s something that I’m very pleased about.”
“I’m probably just missing that contact with my team-mates, and getting up to speed on the training ground and the intensity of a game itself.”
“But, from the moment I start training with my team-mates, I can get up to speed in as short a period as possible and be competing straight away and giving my best for the group.”
