After several hours of negotiations, it appears Edinson Cavani finally reached a two-year agreement with a Premier League giant.

A Premier League giant just secured the contract of Edinson Cavani. The Uruguay international was negotiating a new deal with Manchester United but they couldn’t seal it for a couple of reasons. First, the player wanted two years and United only offered him one. After sorting that out, the second problem was his agent’s fee for the transfer.

Initially, Cavani’s representation wanted to collect €10 million for the deal and the Red Devils refused. The problem is that they were in a hurry to make this transfer happen and they reluctantly agreed to pay the money. Cavani traveled to Manchester during the weekend and he signed his new contract today.

The Uruguay striker comes to United as possibly the biggest name for United in the transfer window. But there’s one more surprise coming from him. You will be surprised at the number Cavani decided to use at the English club.

Cavani is set to wear Ronaldo’s former number.

As a way to show him respect and admiration, Sky Sports just reported that Edinson Cavani has been granted the opportunity to wear United’s number ‘7’ jersey. For those who are not aware of this. We are talking about possibly the most important jersey number in the club’s history, one that some incredible legends have worn in the past.

People like George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo have made this number even more famous. Now it’s Edinson Cavani’s turn to wear this number with pride, but also with a lot of pressure. The most recent players who wore it, couldn’t honor the privilege after failing to reach the expectations.

Manchester United will make Cavani’s transfer official in a few hours. What do you think about the Uruguay native’s arrival to Old Trafford?
