Former Juventus boss Fabio Capello has opted against putting his ex-employers at the front of the Serie A title queue.
Although Juventus are always betting favorites when it comes to lifting the domestic crown, Capello has another view.
The Bianconeri entered this season as record-breaking nine-time straight league winners and are again the leading contenders to claim the title.
But, the famous tactician believes Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan are eligible candidates to make life difficult for the reigning champions.
Conte’s side had a busy summer reinforcing their ranks to put up a fight this season. Arturo Vidal, Achraf Hakimi, Matteo Darmian, and Aleksandar Kolarov arrived at the Giuseppe Meazza.
With a well-stocked squad jammed full of world-class players, Inter are ready to stake their claim for the Serie A title. They also have an unbeaten league start (W2, D1) to back that claim.
Capello is of the opinion the Milanese heavyweights have what it takes to end ten-year title drought.
“They [Inter Milan] didn’t sell their outcasts and have a double team now. It means they will be extremely competitive,” he said, as relayed by the Football-Italia.
“With five subs, Conte can radically change the team. Two more substitutions can help the coach also during the week. Everyone would train with more energy and happiness because they know they have more chances of being involved.
“Juventus didn’t play the most significant game against Napoli, and Pirlo will have to deal with the problem of having a lot of strikers. These two teams will battle it out for the Scudetto.
“[Federico] Chiesa is an interesting youth. Juventus’ balance sheet is heavy and I think they are investing in young players so the team will be ready when hard times will come. Juventus is an open construction site, Inter is not.
“Atalanta can be a danger too, they have International experience and the play very well, Napoli can be dangerous too, Milan and Roma come afterward.”
