Could that 6-1 howler against Tottenham be Solskjaer’s undoing? The Manchester United boss is now the odds-on favorite to be sacked next.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons following a 6-1 defeat to Tottenham. Not only did it take place at Old Trafford, but it came against Jose Mourinho – the man he replaced at Manchester United in December 2018.
Questions had already been asked over the 47-year-old prior to last weekend’s horror show. His summer transfer plans ultimately went bust amid a fruitless bid to sign Jadon Sancho. Although the deadline-day signings of Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles eased off some pressure on that front.
The next four league games, though, could be decisive for Solskjaer’s future in the Old Trafford dugout. Newcastle, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton await between October 17 and November 7. Any disappointing results could seriously harm United in the Premier League.
The 20-time English champions sit down in 16th-place in the standings during the international break. Only a single victory has come their way in three games, with a whopping 11 goals conceded.
United will also kick off their Champions League campaign against Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig, and Istanbul Basaksehir in that period.
Such is the significance of this period that the club board has reportedly contacted Mauricio Pochettino. Therefore, Solskjaer is the odds-on favorite as the next Premier League manager to go out of a job.
SkyBet has priced the Red Devils boss at 5/4 to be the next coach to leave his post, as per Oddschecker. Most punters also feel the same way, with 37.7% of them expecting a managerial change in Manchester.
Fulham manager Scott Parker is next in line at 9/4 and his Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche completes the top-three at 10/1.

What about Hasenhuttl?
Despite these odds, however, punters believe Ralph Hasenhuttl is next in line after Solskjaer.
The Southampton boss’ price of 25/1 doesn’t even make the top 10, yet 10.2% of punters on Oddschecker still believe his time at St Mary’s could be over soon.
The Austrian, like Solskjaer, has overseen a tough start in the Premier League once more. Southampton defeated West Brom 2-0 last weekend, though, to make it back-to-back victories. The result moved them up to 11th in the league standings on six points from four games.
Roy Hodgson is also in the firing line following an indifferent start to the campaign for Crystal Palace. And, to nobody’s surprise, Frank Lampard is under pressure to deliver after Chelsea’s expensive summer.
