'We'll see in January ' - Giroud casts doubts over Chelsea future

Olivier Giroud is determined to fight for his place at Chelsea but is unsure whether he’ll be at the club beyond the winter transfer window.

With his twilight years fast approaching, Olivier Giroud seeks to add to his trophy collection with the French national team before hanging up his international boots.

The 34-year-old needs to be playing regularly at club level in order to even get a call-up by Didier Deschamps for France – a nation jam-packed with talent.

With similar intentions in mind, he had decided to call time on his Chelsea career in the previous winter transfer window. However, he made a U-turn on his decision after being provided reassurances by Frank Lampard.

He has yet again found his playing time at risk due to the arrival of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham picking up form.

Chelsea have played four matches in the Premier League so far but the Frenchman has played in just one of those.

“I’ve written a book called ‘Always Believe It’, so I’m not going to go anywhere without a fight,” Giroud told when quizzed on his future plans by reporters, via Goal.

“There is competition, but I will fight and we saw the rewards of that at the end of last season.

“I am convinced that I have a role to play at Chelsea. We will see in January.”
