With the goal to possibly sign Memphis Depay before the end of the transfer window, Barcelona is giving Ousmane Dembele one option.

The double transfer saga happening at Barcelona keeps Ousmane Dembele at the center of it all. A deal that seems like a dead end because the Catalan club refused to allow the French player to leave on a loan just yesterday. However, Ronald Koeman’s urgency to sign Memphis Depay might’ve changed the club’s view of Dembele’s contract.

They have decided to take a new approach that is very similar to what happened with Philippe Coutinho when he played at Bayern Munich. Dembele already missed today’s training session at Barcelona because he wasn’t available to make it in time. It’s clear that all his focus is currently on the last hours of the transfer market. The player’s agents are currently trying to unlock the negotiations and attempting to convince Barcelona that a loan is the best option.

Depay comes only if Dembele leaves.

According to Sport, Barcelona is finally starting to consider a possible loan to United. The Red Devils are not willing to pay the player’s full transfer and only wanted a loan. Negotiations were ongoing but this detail didn’t allow things to move forward until recently.

Sport also reports that the club’s board finally sees the urgency to sign Depay and they will allow the player’s agents to present a loan plan. Manchester United is doing everything they can to make it happen, but Barcelona is still indecisive. We might be looking at a wild transfer deadline’s final hours with this double deal happening.

Both Dembele and Depay are locked and loaded to make the trip to their respective new clubs as soon as the deals go through. However, everything could still fall apart if they don’t reach an agreement in time.
