In a match with no Jadon Sancho, Bayern Munich barely defeated Borussia Dortmund in the DFL Supercup. Here are the players’ ratings.
The DFL Supercup in Germany took place today between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at Allianz Arena. The Bavarian giants were widely considered favorites to win this match, especially after Jadon Sancho was dropped from the list.
A player who seems on his way out from Dortmund but the club still denies he will leave to play for Manchester United. Today’s responsibilities fell on Erling Haaland’s lap for Dortmund and he didn’t disappoint, but the German machine was unstoppable as usual.
Alphonso Davies’ first-half performance.
Canadian full-back Alphonso Davies is one of Bayern Munich’s most valuable players right now. He is the one who created the chances for his side’s two initial goals that gave them the advantage during the first half. Tolisso scored the initial goal after Davies’ high-speed demonstration on the left flank.
Fifteen minutes later, the Canadian player set Thomas Müller up for the second goal. But right before half-time, Erling Haaland gave Julian Brandt an assist to pull one back for Dortmund and keep hopes alive. After the break, the Norway giant got to equalize the game and nearly gave Dortmund the win.
Manuel Neuer made sure the kid knew who he was with another legendary save. However, the man of the match was Joshua Kimmich with an insane solo effort. A well-deserved 3-2 victory for Bayern that gets them closer to the 2009 Barcelona squad. They are just one trophy away from winning six in a single year.
