Ahead of the upcoming international break, Jose Mourinho made a plea to Gareth Southgate about Harry Kane’s participation with England.

One of Jose Mourinho’s most important players is Harry Kane. The England international is the team’s top goal-scorer of the last five years and he’s been considered amongst the top strikers in the world. It is because he doesn’t have too many teammates on his level that Kane tends to get tired quickly during the season.

Jose Mourinho knows that without the English striker, Tottenham Hotspur has no chance of winning any silverware. So, it was obvious Mourinho would react when he saw the England call-up. The Portuguese manager knows that his top player can’t get tired this early in the season. He made a plea to Gareth Southgate.

England’s boss has Kane as his most important offensive player and he tends to play full matches for his country. This is something that Jose Mourinho needs to stop as soon as possible but convincing Southgate won’t be easy.

England will play vs Wales, Belgium, and Denmark.

With Harry Kane’s callup for the upcoming international fixture, it’s obvious that Southgate wants Harry to play all matches. However, Mourinho is urging the England boss to think about it. The Three Lions are set to play against Wales in a friendly batch before the Nations League games vs Belgium and Denmark.

“When Kane is fit, he should start every game for Tottenham but he didn’t yesterday [against Chelsea],” Mourinho said through The Guardian.

“So I think this is the point. When you have such a player and you want to win every match, you play him, but you just can’t do it.

“I believe that Gareth [Southgate] and Steve [Holland, the England assistant manager] care about the players and I don’t think they want to be connected with something that can be a consequence of this week and the three international matches.

“I don’t speak with Gareth or Steve. I just let them do the job in the way they want to do it with the freedom they deserve. I just leave with them the respect they will have for their players. Hopefully, Gareth and Steve understand what happened with Tottenham this week and they respect the players. That’s just my hope but I’m not going to call or ask or beg.”
