Diego Costa is happy to play alongside Luis Suarez at Atletico Madrid as he believes they complement each other perfectly.
Diego Costa is already looking forward to starring alongside Luis Suarez at Atletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan forward joined Los Rojiblancos in a two-year deal after finding himself surplus to requirements at Barcelona.
Suarez started life at Atletico in good fashion after marking a dream debut in their 6-1 win over Granada.
The 33-year-old came on in the 70th minute and bagged an assist in just two minutes on the pitch.
Five minutes from time, Suarez opened his account for Atletico before bagging a second late in the final stages of the game.
Costa also got on the score sheet early in the 9th minute and spoke about his delight in having an experienced forward partner upfront.
He also jokingly referred to the multiple incidents in which Suarez has been accused of biting an opponent.
“I like Luis Suarez. It’s really good, one of us bites and the other kicks,” Costa told reporters as quoted by Goal.
“I don’t know why Barca let him leave, but it’s up to them.
“He has a warrior spirit to win titles, hopefully we can give that to the fans.”
Costa also added that the arrival of Suarez gives Atletico depth and proper quality in attack needed to compete for titles.
“The truth is that the seasons where we won titles we always had great players like [David] Villa, Adrian [Lopez], and Raul Garcia,” he added.
“Three important players came out and another three came in who could play in any team. There is a fair competition. You have to compete.”
