The Argentina international Sergio Aguero was declared to miss more fixtures for Premier League side Manchester City. When will he play next?
Sergio Aguero sat on the bench for a substantial period in the Premier League last season.
Manchester City started their new campaign with a 3-1 victory over Wolves on Monday this week.
Subsequently, goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and Gabriel Jesus helped the Citizens register three points in the table.
Although, City are concerned about the fitness of Aguero. He is out of the game for a long time now as per Goal.
The Argentina international suffered from a knee injury on June 23 this year. This was during a game against Burnley following Premier League’s restart after the lockdown. City won the game 5-0 but lost their forward.
Then, Aguero traveled to Barcelona to get a knee surgery at the end of the season.
Pep Guardiola provided the positivity by saying that he will be back in the field by August. Though, the 32-year-old seems to take a long time to return from the injury.
Aguero also missed the Champions League games as he did not achieve complete fitness.
In September, Guardiola mentioned that he will be out for another one or two months. Meaning, the Argentine is set to return at Etihad in November.
“We knew that the injury was difficult,” Guardiola said.
“He is doing the job, in maybe one month or two months he will be ready. He has to come back on the pitch and regain the physical condition.
“Sergio was out for a long time and Sergio is not a guy who regains the physical condition quick so I think in one month or two months he will be ready.”
If Aguero is benched until November, he will miss up to 12 matches for City. This includes crucial Premier League games against Leicester, Leeds, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Moreover, the forward will also miss Champions League group stage fixtures which begin in October.
Aguero managed to play only 32 games last season. He is currently in his last year of the contract.
Therefore, last season’s appearance makes it the lowest number since he signed from Atletico Madrid. He scored 16 games during that period nine years ago.
