Jurgen Klopp says the arrival of Thiago Alcantara will not determine if he will be forced to sell any of his Liverpool players.

Jurgen Klopp insists the arrival of Thiago Alcantara will not impact the club’s transfer activity in terms of departures.

The 29-year-old has completed a £20m move to Anfield which could be announced by the end of Friday.

It initially looked like any deal to sign Thiago would be dependent on Georgino Wijanldum.

The Dutchman was linked with a move to Barcelona and it was believed the funds from that sale would be used to complete the signing.

Liverpool managed to agree on a deal with Bayern for Thiago while Winaldum still remains at Anfield.

Despite how it may seem, Klopp says the arrival of the Spaniard won’t determine the faith of any of his current stars.

“If it (Thiago signing) happens it has no impact on anyone’s future in a negative way,” the Liverpool boss was quoted by Sky Sports.

“No one has to leave if someone comes in or anything like that. It has no impact.”

“Sometimes you buy before you sell, sometimes you sell before you buy – there’s different scenarios.

“Sometimes you earn it back differently but what is true for us is what we earned on football, we spend on football. That is the short summary of the club’s philosophy and one of the key points.”

Despite the imminent signing of Thiago, improvement is the aim at Liverpool and Klopp remains unsure of what can happen in the coming weeks.

“We are consistently looking at improvement and I cannot promise we will do something and I cannot say it is 100 percent sure we don’t,” the Reds boss added.

“It’s a developing situation – a player could come to me and say, ‘Boss, I want to go’ – I don’t expect that but it can happen, and then we have to react.”

A big match awaits Liverpool and Klopp on Sunday when they take on free-spending Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
