Sneijder backs Van de Beek’s move to Manchester

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got his first reinforcement for the 2020/21 season, securing the services of Donny van de Beek in a  £40 million deal. 

Ed Woodward has come through on his promises to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian has received only quality additions to his dressing room, Donny van de Beek being the latest signing

Solskjaer will be looking to improve on Manchester United’s third-place finish. Dutch legend, Wesley Sneijder has backed his compatriot to shine at at Old Trafford. 

Sneijder believes van de Beek is moving to the Premier League at the right time. The 23-year-old has spent five years in Ajax’s first team before making the move to the Premier League.

“Now is the right time,” Sneijder told Voetbal International. “Manchester United is a fantastic club and I think he is a better fit there too. ‘English football suits him better than Spanish football.”

The former Inter Milan and Real Madrid player was in awe of Van de Beek’s performances on the pitch. Sneijder hailed his offensive additions and believes his positional sense will help him at Old Trafford.

“He is a complete player. I really like his running actions.

“He is someone who makes space, has a lot of depth and always looks for the right moments to go deep. 

“‘He is always in the right place and always keeps playing football.”

Van de Beek is currently on international duty. He came on the pitch in Netherlands 1-0 win over Poland. The new Manchester United signing will report at Old Trafford after the Dutch team’s UEFA Nations League League A Group 1 fixture against Italy.
