Josep Maria Bartomeu will be in the spotlight once again this morning, as members of the Barcelona board can sign a motion that could force him out.
Bartomeu’s reign as Barcelona president has officially reached a new low after Lionel Messi handed in a transfer request.
The Blaugrana skipper intends to end his time at Camp Nou this summer by activating a clause in his contract that should allow him to leave on a free transfer unless Barcelona can convince him otherwise.
One possible way to help convince Messi to do a u-turn may be in Bartomeu ending his six-spell as the club’s president, with board members now eligible to sign a motion against him. Should at least 66% of votes not go in his favor, the 57-year-old will be forced out.

And one member dead set on presenting a vote of no confidence on Wednesday morning is presidential candidate Jordi Farre with the club elections coming up in March next year.
“Tomorrow at 9am I will present a vote of censure against Bartomeu and his board of directors,” Farre wrote on Twitter.
“For the sake of Barca, we cannot allow them to continue for another minute.”
Farre is not the only one outraged by Messi’s transfer demand as Barcelona fans voiced their fury at Camp Nou on Tuesday night. Some of them even demanded that Bartomeu step down as president.
