Barcelona are in turmoil and Joan Laporta has added fuel to fire by suggesting the club wants to sell club icon, Lionel Messi.
Bayern Munich’s 8-2 triumph over Barcelona sent the Blaugrana in a downward spiral. The Catalan club sacked Quique Setien and Eric Abidal resigned from his Technical Director post.
Ronald Koeman is now responsible for the Camp Nou dugout. The Dutch tactician wants to mold Barcelona in his own image and a mass culling is exodus is expected in Catalonia.
Koeman told Luis Suarez over the phone to pack his bags and look for new employers. This has not sit well with ex-President Joan Laporta.
Laporta was critical of the manner in which Suarez is being ushered through the exit door. He even speculated that it was all being done to sell Messi to the highest bidder.
“They have told [Luis] Suarez they don’t want him by telephone. That seems an act of cowardice and a lack of respect towards the player. It’s an unacceptable way for the club to behave and it harms the image of the club. I suspect they want to sell Messi,” the former Barcelona president said on Twitter.
“Poor Barca in the hands of these incompetents,” Laporta added.
