Wembley was the place where England got a visit from Germany in the Euro 2020. It’s time to bring you tonight’s player ratings.

The England National Team had to play against ghosts from their past as they faced Germany at the Euro 2020’s Round of 16. In previous tournaments, the Germans were always the squad that eliminated the Three Lions. It didn’t matter if it was during a World Cup or the Euros, they always fell against them. But this new generation led by Gareth Southgate is going through a learning process where they are taking the right steps. This team is on its way to becoming the true golden generation of English players by learning from all the mistakes made by their predecessors.

Even though his initial proposed starting eleven didn’t convince anyone, Gareth Southgate managed to arrange his first-half mistake in due time. Bukayo Saka is a fantastic midfielder but he lacked the experience to play a game of this magnitude. Jack Grealish was the ideal man to take the team forward and fortunately, Southgate fixed this calculation error. We didn’t see the real action until the second half of this game between both sides. That was the moment all the fans at Wembley truly started to enjoy themselves.

Sterling and Kane appear once again.

Even though most of us would like to see all the great English players from the bench, Gareth Southgate has a clear idea of what he wants. He has trusted both Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane since the start of the tournament. Today, both of them responded in spectacular fashion. But not without that catalyst we told you about: Jack Grealish. As soon as the Aston Villa captain got on the pitch, everything completely changed for England. He started the action in the first goal of the match that gave Sterling his third of this tournament.

Grealish also set Harry Kane up for a rushed header that fortunately got in the back of the net. England defeated Germany 2-0 at Wembley but they also conquered some of their ghosts from the past. Although, the tournament isn’t over because England wants to bring the cup home. We will see if they face Sweden or Ukraine three hours from now. Meanwhile, let all the English folk enjoy this historic victory.
