After getting called back to represent Sweden, Zlatan Ibrahimovic rounded up his week with more fantastic news as an AC Milan player.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still riding the tip of a wave that still hasn’t ended since last weekend. We just got confirmation of more fantastic news for the Swedish striker after getting that desired call back to his national team. Last week, we saw AC Milan struggle against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League’s Round of 16. They played at Old Trafford and managed to get a 1-1 draw in the end without their best player on the pitch.
Ibra was recovering from a fresh muscular injury that has prevented him from helping his teammates in recent weeks. With the upcoming return leg in San Siro, the Rossoneri finally got some great news ahead of the game that might tip the scale in their favor. Even though he won’t play the full 90 minutes, there’s a good chance Ibrahimovic could play from the start. However, Stefano Pioli won’t make that decision until the last minute of the match.
Pioli confirmed Ibrahimovic’s return.
During today’s press conference via AC Milan’s official website, Stefano Pioli confirmed Zlatan’s return alongside other key players: “Bennacer and Ibra are in the squad and available. I’m happy with their recovery. Having Zlatan back is huge; he doesn’t have 90 minutes in the legs but we’ll see tomorrow. We’ll need to wait and see with the others; tomorrow morning’s training session will be key for Romagnoli, Rebić, Calabria and Leão.
“The more options I have, the better – especially because we are playing so many games. In any case, we’ve shown that we can do well even during injury crises. Zlatan’s arrival last January – along with Kjær – improved the squad in terms of depth and resilience on the pitch. I don’t know if he was good at Sanremo, I didn’t watch it, but he’s an absolute champion on the üitch and we all expect a lot from him until the end of the season.”
