The 40-year-old Swede continues to defy age and has now lifted the lid on the secret behind his success.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic credits his mentality for continuing to play at the highest level into his forties.
The AC Milan striker, who turned 40 at the beginning of October, is back to his best after recovering from injury problems earlier in the season. In fact, he has supplied a goal in two of his last three games.
Zlatan again proved age is only a number on Sunday by scoring a brilliant free-kick against Jose Mourinho’s Roma side to help AC Milan take an important 2-1 victory.
“The secret to my longevity is in the mind, as I am trying to prove that 40 is just a number and I can continue to do what I love,” he told Telefoot.
“I want to keep improving every day. Obviously, I can’t play the way I did before, but I am more intelligent now and have more experience. I am not surprised by my performances, I am the best.”
Zlatan added: “I have nothing more to prove, but I don’t want to retire and then regret it, thinking I could’ve continued. I don’t want to stop until I am kicked out, well and truly finished.”
