In a fresh blow for Zinedine Zidane, the French manager just lost another good player to an injury this weekend. That’s already three.
There’s something that Zinedine Zidane isn’t doing properly with his top players, they keep getting injured. We are not aware if it’s the physical preparation, the diet, or something else. But ‘Zizou’ needs to look at his technical staff and start worrying about what they aren’t doing properly. Last week it was Eden Hazard. The Belgian forward suffered a muscular problem that will keep him out of the game for at least another month.
Earlier this week, it was Daniel Carvajal with a knee injury that needed surgery. The Spanish full-back will be out of the game for two months, at least. Now, the latest player to fall injured at Real Madrid is another full-back. Alvaro Odriozola just came from Bayern Munich after a loan that brought him back as a treble-winner. However, his physical preparation in Munich cannot be compared to the one he gets under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
The club issued the following statement after getting an idea of his fresh problem: “Following the tests carried out today on our player Álvaro Odriozola by the Real Madrid medical department, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the calf muscle in his left leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Zidane’s bad luck with full-backs.
With Odriozola’s injury, we can’t help but think about the two full-backs that Zidane didn’t want on his squad. One of them is Sergio Reguilon, he left to play for Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur. The other one is Achraf Hakimi, who is starting to become important at Inter Milan under Antonio Conte.
None of these players were liked by the French manager and he is paying the consequences of his decisions. We still don’t know the extent of Alvaro’s injury but he will be out of the squad list for tomorrow’s match against Levante. Many used to think ‘Zizou’ was a very fortunate manager. Today he is proving that luck is starting to leave his side as more problems keep emerging.
