Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane made a rather perfect reply, in response to Jurgen Klopp’s ‘strange stadium’ remarks on Tuesday night.

Zinedine Zidane remained unfazed after Jurgen Klopp made comments that appeared to take a swipe at Real Madrid’s Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

Liverpool are on the brink of an European exit after a humbling 3-1 loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday night. A brace from Vinicius and another from Asensio put the La Liga side in control although Mohamed Salah scored a ‘crucial’ away goal.

Jurgen Klopp did admit his side deserved to lose but caused a stir after ‘hitting’ out at Real Madrid’s 6,000-seat Di Stefano Stadium. Los Blancos are taking advantage of the absence of fans to speed up renovation of their Santiago Bernabeu ground.

“Tonight was really strange, it was a difficult and different situation because of the stadium,” Klopp said after the game.

“Anfield is at least a proper stadium and that will be good for us.”

Regardless, Zidane didn’t get involved in a war of words and gave his own assessment of Klopp’s comments.

“I don’t have an opinion about what Jurgen says, we are proud to play in this stadium,” the Real Madrid boss said after the game.

Speaking on the return leg, Zidane added: “Liverpool is the opponent and we know they are going to leave all they have on the pitch, I have no question about that.”

“We just need to be ready and it is going to be a very good second leg match. We will need to do the same thing in the second leg.”

“We are happy with the result but we have won nothing. We are happy with the performance and what the players have done is huge after a lot of difficulties in our season.

“There is a long road ahead and we are alive. Today is the first leg but we’ll know we’ll have a second leg and our idea is to think that we go into that and the result will be 0-0.

“For us, we are happy but we have another complicated game for the second leg.”

“These two sides are quite offensive and we knew we could hurt them from that aspect, so we prepared properly.”

“What we did quite well was defend properly with the three in the middle and we know if we defend properly we will get chances in the attack and that is what happened.”

“The first goal was quite beautiful with a wonderful pass from Toni [Kroos].”
