Despite another damaging blow to Real Madrid’s La Liga title prospects, Zidane refuses to raise the white flag.

Zinedine Zidane believes Real Madrid can still win La Liga after dropping more valuable points on Saturday.

A 0-0 home draw with Real Betis has left the title holders two points behind table-toppers Atletico Madrid, who visit Athletic Club later on Sunday evening.

Third-placed Barcelona, who are three points behind Real Madrid in second, play the first of their two games in hand over Zidane’s men at Villarreal on the same day.

“The league is five games to go, that’s still a lot,” said Zidane in a post-match conference. “We lost two points, but we’re going to keep fighting.

“Defensively we were good, but offensively we lacked a lot and were not very fine at the top.

“The league did not end today. The league remains, the others have to play.”

The 0-0 draw in Spain was actually Real Madrid’s third goalless stalemate in their last four games in all competitions.

Zidane’s men will now prepare to welcome Chelsea to Madrid for the first leg of a Champions League semi-final tie on Tuesday.
