Doubts have been pouring in over Sergio Ramos’ future as his Real Madrid contract nears its end, but Zinedine Zidane remains calm.
Ramos hit a career milestone on Tuesday by scoring his 100th Real Madrid goal in the 3-2 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League.
It came on the very same day that doubts crept in over the 34-year-old’s future in Madrid. Despite his contract set to expire at the end of the season, no fresh terms over an extension have been agreed on.
There was even a wild transfer rumor going about suggesting that a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus was a possibility.
But Zidane set the record straight by insisting that Ramos is going nowhere.
“I have no doubt that he will stay,” Zidane said on his captain in his post-match conference. “He is our leader and of course we love him forever.”

Ramos, who arrived from Sevilla in 2005, has made 659 appearances for Real Madrid in all competitions across the last 15 years.
After scoring his 100th goal for the club on Tuesday, Florentino Perez presented him with a special commemorative shirt to mark his achievement. But, as far as the center-back is concerned, team results come first.
“Individual records are secondary,” said Ramos.
“But it’s nice when your achievements, effort, and sacrifices over the course of so many years are recognized.
“It’s not every day you get your 100th goal and all the more so when you’re a defender. As long as they help us to win games and bring positive things to the team, I’ll be really happy. Here’s hoping I get many more.”
Karim Benzema and Rodrygo Goes were also on target to help Real Madrid claim their first Champions League win of the season.
