Zinedine Zidane insisted that the Real Madrid captain most certainly belongs in the hall of fame in the world of football.

There is no doubt that Sergio Ramos is one of the top defenders in the world at the moment. With his impressive leadership qualities and surprising goalscoring skills, he has guided Real Madrid to success many times. Though, Zinedine Zidane believes that the Spaniard is the best center-back “in history” of football.

The 34-year-old evidently netted his 100th goal for the La Liga champions in midweek in a Champions League win against Inter Milan. However, Ramos’ current agreement with Madrid will expire at the end of this season. But some reports say that Los Blancos will potentially offer him a two-year extension.

And Zidane is mesmerized by the high-class caliber that Ramos brings at Santiago Bernabeu. The Frenchman has played during his spell at Madrid and knows the kind of pressure a player can be in. Furthermore, Zidane received questions regarding Ramos’ spot in the world of football.

“The best? He is one of them, of course,” Zidane told reporters. “What he has done, what he is, what he has shown in Madrid. I think he is the best in history.”

More problems?

Madrid is in trouble again ahead of their weekend’s clash with Valencia. A major setback occurred as Eden Hazard and Casemiro tested positive for COVID19. Although, Zidane affirms that the pair does not show signs of the virus and will focus to get back to action.

“Well, they’re okay I think. They’re not happy with what’s happened but they’re okay and physically they don’t have many symptoms, but we know it’s tough,” he added.

“I left them a message and I’ll speak to them later. This can happen and we have to accept that.

“You know what [Hazard] is like as a player. He’s a strong player. It’s a tough moment with injuries and everything but he’s in good spirits, which is important. He has to wait a week now.

“We have to adapt to the situation. We know it could be worse. It happened to [Eder] Militao the other day, to Eden and Casemiro today.

“We have to accept it and keep going forward because the strength is in the team unit. There are worse things that are happening, people are worse off elsewhere, but it’s disconcerting that the training session today has been completely different from the day before a game.

“It’s disconcerting because you don’t know what’s going to happen, in what moment you’re going to have positives or not and that’s what’s happened with these two players.

“They are responsible people but unfortunately it’s happened. It could be worse. There are people in much worse situations who are really, really suffering outside of football.

“But in the world of football I’m a manager and I prefer to have them available for tomorrow obviously.”
