Los Blancos kept the pressure on Atletico Madrid with a win on Sunday, moving to within five points of the league leaders.

Zinedine Zidane has applauded Real Madrid for defending “very well” against Valencia in the La Liga outing on Sunday.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the first half, netting his 12th league goal of the campaign, and Toni Kroos added another in the second half to seal a convincing 2-0 win.

It marked a second successive clean sheet for Real Madrid, who have now avoided conceding a goal in 10 of their 23 matches in La Liga so far this season.

“That much is evident,” Zidane said on his side’s recent improvement at the back,” via AS. “We believe a lot in what we do. We are overcoming difficulties and there is a lot left for us to give.

Real Madrid are now on a three-match winning streak in La Liga, and the manager wants his team to keep up their good form.

“We are going to continue doing what we are doing,” he added. “We are not going to look at what others are doing. Today we played a very good game.

“They all defended very well without the ball and when got forward we caused a lot of damage. We have to continue in this way.”
