Wankdorf Stadion in Bern was the place where Man United visited Young Boys in the Champions League. We got player ratings.

The UEFA Champions League started a new season with a great game between Man United and Young Boys. Bern was the place where the Red Devils opened the game in which they were overwhelming favorites. But we know how the UEFA Champions League can be extremely unpredictable. This was Cristiano Ronaldo’s night for two reasons: he broke Iker Casillas’ all-time most-caps record and he scored the opener. A brilliant assist from Bruno Fernandes gave Cristiano the chance to net his 136th goal in the tournament.

But things started getting more difficult after a ghastly mistake was made by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The English defender committed a terrible tackle against one of the Young Boys’ players. He received an instant red card and complicated things for his side. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer quickly decided to take Jadon Sancho off the pitch in order to give Diogo Dalot a chance to defend the result. After a tough 45 minutes for both sides, Young Boys was more alive than ever before. They only needed to keep pressure on Manchester United in order to get that equalizer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s bad decisions for United.

From the moment Wan-Bissaka was sent off, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s managerial skills were put to the test. He decided to take Sancho off the pitch but he was also unable to control Young Boys’ approaches in the second half. There was a moment in which defensive mistakes were too many to ignore and the equalizer was bound to come. Ngamaleu ceased a moment inside the box where David De Gea wasn’t able to respond.

Soon after this goal, Solskjaer decided to take Ronaldo and Bruno off the pitch. This decision was regarded as a statement of guarding the result since they weren’t able to score another goal. Clearly, one less player completely compromised the Red Devils. Near the end of the match, David De Gea made a tremendous save that nearly gave Young Boys the victory. Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t seem happy about leaving the pitch but he accepted the decision. Nobody expected what was about to happen near the end of the match. Siebatcheu took control of a lost ball from Jesse Lingard that gave Young Boys a shocking victory at home against Manchester United. Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t believe his eyes. The first major shock just took place in Bern.
