James Rodriguez has been in sublime form since his summer arrival, and now Yerry Mina has revealed the extend of his teammate’s impact at Everton.
James reunited with his old Real Madrid and Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti at Everton over the summer and has made an instant impact.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has chipped in three goals and assists in his opening six Premier League games to help Everton enter the top-four. It’s led to talk of Champions League qualification for next season already.
But while it may still be a tad early to call on that one, James’ impact was earned raving reviews. Many fans and pundits alike are impressed with his quick adaption to the Premier League – especially as he sat out most of last season at Real Madrid.
But Mina isn’t surprised by the quality his Colombia and Everton teammate has shown at Goodison Park so far.
“Many doubted his quality, but he has shown that he is a top player,” the 26-year-old told AS.
“He trains well, eats well, spends all day thinking about things that will improve him. In one day with him you realise that he is a top professional.
“I have learned a lot from him and I want to continue learning, on and off the pitch. We are always together and I take the opportunity to observe and learn.”
The former Barcelona defender also weighed in how James’ qualities have helped improve Everton this season.
Mina added: “He has the advantage that before receiving the ball he already knows where to play it and that gives us enormous agility in the attacks.
“It has brought us closer together in terms of speed for the transition. In addition, he always wants to win and that is also contributing to the character of the team.”
James is unavailable for Everton’s latest league game away to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
