The newly-appointed Barcelona boss has already started his efforts to improve the players’ work rate.
Barcelona appointed Xavi Hernandez as their new manager earlier this week. The former Al-Sadd boss promised “hard work and sacrifice” during his unveiling interview at Camp Nou. However, he deserves the same from the Blaugrana players.
Similar to how Franck Lampard started out at Chelsea, Xavi has implemented a set of new rules for the players to improve their work rate.
What are the new rules?
According to AS, Here are Xavi’s 10 rules at Barcelona:
- Players must arrive 90 minutes before training starts
- Staff must arrive two hours before training starts
- Players must eat at the club’s training ground
- Fines have returned
- Fines will be doubled for repeat offences/offenders
- Players must be home before midnight two days before a game
- Players must give their all in training
- Player’s off-field activity will be monitored
- ‘Risky’ activities are no longer permitted
- A good image is essential
What is next for Xavi?
Xavi hopes to change things around at Barcelona, but this does not seem like an easy task at all. The club has too many injured players, with their financial situation limiting their choices in the transfer market.
Having collected 17 points from their 12 matches, Barcelona are currently ninth in La Liga. The Blaugrana have not been able to win any of their last four league games.
Xavi will have the chance to end the team’s barren run in their next league match against Espanyol on November 20.
