The former Manchester City forward has joined the La Liga club in a deal worth €55 million.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has hailed Ferran Torres as a ‘spectacular signing’ and backed the ‘very complete’ forward to make an important impact at Camp Nou.
Torres’ €55 million move from Manchester City on a five-year deal until 2027 was ratified on New Year’s Day as the 2022 winter transfer window officially opened for business in La Liga.
The 21-year-old has already begun training in Barcelona but won’t make his debut for the club this weekend, as he is still recovering from a metatarsal fracture.
Nonetheless, Xavi is thrilled to have Torres on board and has now opened up on the star’s qualities.

Xavi praises his newest signing
“Ferran Torres is a spectacular signing, as a player and a person,” said the manager in a press conference on Saturday.
“He’s going to give us a lot. He’s had great coaches like Pep and Luis. He can play in different positions. I’m very happy with the effort made by the club to get him.”
On what Torres brings to Barca, Xavi said: “I think his best virtue is his personality,”
“He’s very ambitious, excited, dedicated, you can see it in his eyes. He can play in attack, he has great one against one, can score goals. We are talking about a very complete player who will help us without a shadow of a doubt.”
