A clearly emotional Xavi Hernandez shared a touching message on social media after taking his dream job at Camp Nou.
Hours after Al Sadd confirmed an agreement to release Xavi from his contract on Friday, Barcelona finally broke their silence in the early hours of Saturday morning to welcome Xavi back.
The 41-year-old returns to ‘the club of my life’ to replace Ronald Koeman as manager on a two-and-a-half-year contract until June 2024.

“Dear Culers, I’m coming back home,” Xavi posted on Instagram.
“I’m returning to the place that saw me grow up, I’m returning to the club of my life.
“I have no words to describe the emotion I feel to defend again this shield that is stamped in my heart, to feel again the Camp Nou vibrating, and to hear again the cheers of encouragement from these great fans.
“I know that I am arriving at a difficult moment, but I’m facing this challenge with the greatest of enthusiasm. I will work and fight with you all to reach together the place we deserve.
“Thank you Barcelona for trusting in me, as well as to all the fans who believed that I should take on this important role.”
Xavi, who won 25 titles during a glorious 17-year spell as a player at Barcelona, boarded a plane on Saturday morning from Doha, the Qatari capital, to Catalonia.
Barcelona will officially present their new manager to fans on Monday.
