Despite several months of contract negotiations, things have not been agreed upon between Xavi’s Barcelona and Ousmane Dembele.

Xavi has sent a final warning to Ousmane Dembele asking him to sign the contract or Barcelona will sell him before the end of January.

The youngster joined the ranks of the Catalan club in 2017 for a value of €145 million from Borussia Dortmund. However, he has just six months left on his deal after spending the last four-and-a-half years at Camp Nou.

Barca have made several attempts to offer a fresh agreement to the 24-year-old. But, things have not fared the desired way for the La Liga outfit.

Regardless of rigorous effort from the club for the past few months, Xavi has now sent a final message to the winger.

The Barcelona legend told a press conference on Wednesday: “The message is clear. Ousmane Dembele has to sign a new contract or we find a way to sell him in January. No other way.”

“What I can say is that we are making a difficult decision. If he does not renew, the club has decided that they will make a decision. We have waited a long time, we have been in talks with him for five months. Either he renews or a solution is sought.”

“I’ve been very honest with him, it’s not an easy situation. All or nothing. We feel bad, but what comes first are the interests of the club.”

“It is not contemplated that he stays in the stands. I have been very clear with Ousmane.”
