David Raya got the nod over Aaron Ramsdale in Arsenal’s last game. Will the Spaniard start again this week, or will Mikel Arteta rotate his goalkeepers?
Ian Wright has predicted that Aaron Ramsdale will start in both of Arsenal’s next two games against PSV Eindhoven and Tottenham.
Wright, the club’s second-highest scorer in history with 185 goals, is in favor of Mikel Arteta’s decision to rotate his goalkeepers. He thinks it doesn’t affect how the team plays, making it an interesting scenario for the manager.
On Sunday, Raya made his debut away to Everton in the Premier League. The 28-year-old kept a clean sheet in the game. He didn’t have a lot to do, but his distribution of the ball was solid, as Arsenal claimed a 1-0 win.
“Now, Mikel will face the recurring question every week or every other week – will it be Ramsdale or Raya?” Wright said on Premier League productions.
“On Wednesday [against PSV], I think it will be Ramsdale. I think that Ramsdale will probably play the week after too [against Tottenahm].”
“‘We’ll see this season how it works,” he added.
“Two top goalkeepers in the same team going for all the prizes and see how he [Arteta] balances it out, it’s going to be interesting.”
Arsenal enter Wednesday’s Champions League game with PSV as the clear favorites. With Bet365, a home win is currently priced at odds of 1.36, implying they have a 73.5% chance of collecting all three points at the Emirates.
