The Wrexham star was initially set for six months on the sidelines.
Wrexham star Paul Mullin has opened up on his recovery process after suffering a serious injury during the pre-season.
Wrexham had to start the season without their key striker after he picked up a lung injury in the team’s friendly match against Manchester United in July.
Mullin was set for a six-month absence but came back this weekend, scoring twice in Wrexham’s 3-3 draw with Crewe. Speaking on his shorter-than-expected rehab process, he said: “I came back a lot quicker than expected. I was told by one specialist that it could have been six months (out).
“That would have been the end of the world for me. But it does still feel like a long-term injury, as I haven’t played a proper full game since April against Yeovil at home. This (against Crewe) was my first 90 minutes for a really long time.”
Mullin played a crucial role in Wrexham’s promotion to League Two last season, scoring 38 goals in 46 National League matches.
He added: “It has been the first injury to keep me out longer than a week. It has been pleasing to score, but I know I’ve still got to work as hard as I can to make me feel as good as last year.”
The Red Dragons will continue their league campaign with a match against Mansfield Town on Tuesday.
